Dental Implants

Dental Implants Spokane, WA - Crown, Crown & Implant, Crown, Implant & Post (exploded view). If you are missing a single tooth, multiple teeth, or want a more comfortable and stable denture, dental implants may be the solution you are looking for.

Missing teeth can have a negative impact on your dental and overall health. Each of your teeth is supported by bone and when that tooth is lost the bone is lost too. Some of the bone can be lost immediately at the time of extraction but even more is lost over time as the area heals. When the bone is lost, adjacent teeth often begin to drift or tip into that space causing misalignment. This can lead to jaw (TMJ) problems, periodontal (gum) problems, or weaken the remaining adjacent teeth. If a dental implant is placed, bone stimulation can still occur as if the natural tooth were present reducing or eliminating further bone loss.

In addition to preserving the jaw bone, the restored dental implant mimics your natural teeth in apperance, maintains proper alignment of the teeth, and allows you to chew normally. Most people can't tell the difference between a natual tooth and dental implant. They are biocompatible and often last a lifetime with proper care and good oral hygiene. Another great advantage of dental implants is adjacent teeth don't need to be ground down like they would be for a conventional bridge.

Multiple dental implants can be placed for areas with many or all of the teeth missing. They can be restored individually, with a bridge, or be used an anchors for complete and partial dentures providing more stability and comfort.

Teeth Whitening

Whitening is a safe and effective way to improve your smile. Here at Henning Dental Studio, we offer in-office whitening, custom take home-trays, and whitening gel for those who already have whitening trays. Next time you are in ask us which option is best for you!

Our in-office whitening takes about 1 hour to complete and often results in teeth that are 2-4 shades lighter. You receive custom whitening trays with the treatment for touch-up later on. It is important to remember that crowns, fillings, and some natural teeth do not whiten.

Take home trays are an easy way to control your whitening at home. Impressions are taken and trays made to fit your smile. A whitening gel is applied in the trays and worn as directed. The trays will last for years to come.

KöR Whitening (In Office)

Our in-office whitening takes about 1 hour to complete and often results in teeth up to 16 shades whiter! Usually our in office treatment is preceded by two weeks of home whitening therapy to produce the optimal results. We are delighted to inform you that this system has been shown to be highly effective for patients with tetracycline staining and difficult stains that have not whitened with previous whitening products.

Home Whitening Gel Trays

Take home trays are an easy way to control your whitening at home. Impressions are taken and trays made to fit your smile. A whitening gel is applied in the trays and worn as directed. The trays will last for years to come.

Whitening For Life (Home Use)

Whitening For Life is a complimentary service offered as a gift to those patients maintaining their regular cleaning therapy. Patients receive custom made, professional, take home whitening trays for personal use free of charge. With every completed 3-6 month dental health visit, patients will receive a tube of whitening gel as a gift and incentive for maintaining good oral health. This courtesy is provided to patients after they have followed through with their first three to six-month recall appointment at our office.

Call now to schedule a consult and take your first step towards an even more amazing smile.

One-Visit Crowns

No more impressions, no more temporaries and no need to have multiple visits for your crown. We are excited to offer CEREC crowns at our office. CEREC technology is revolutionary to dentistry because it creates a beautiful, esthetic, strong and durable ceramic restoration that is precisely bonded to the tooth. It is accomplished using a digital scan of the prepared tooth and creating the restoration’s design using powerful 3D software that allows the dentist to customize the result.

The design is wirelessly transmitted to a special milling device that will create your restoration using a dental ceramic. Because this is usually done in one visit, you do not need to have a bulky, messy impression made of your tooth; you do not need to wear a temporary crown; and you do not need to come back on a separate visit, often weeks away, to have your new crown placed.

ClearCorrect Aligners

Looking for an alternative to metal braces? ClearCorrect is the clear and simple choice. No wires. No brackets. Just clear, convenient comfort—every reason to smile.

With ClearCorrect, we can straighten your teeth using a series of clear, custom, removable aligners. Each aligner moves your teeth just a little bit at a time until you eventually get straight teeth.

How does it work?

We will evaluate your teeth and talk about any problems or goals you have for your smile. Once you and Dr. Henning establish ClearCorrect is the right treatment option for you, we will take impressions, photos, and x-rays of your teeth that ClearCorrect uses in manufacturing your custom aligners. Then your doctor writes a prescription for your custom aligners and sends it to ClearCorrect.

What can it do?

ClearCorrect can treat a wide variety of issues that keep people from achieving their ideal smiles. Straighter teeth don’t just look better; they work better too. Poorly-aligned teeth can interfere with bite function, wear out quicker, and are more prone to cavities. Ask us how ClearCorrect can help you.

Snoring & Sleep Appliances

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a serious and lifelong medical condition. OSA can affect your sleep, health, and overall quality of life. It is estimated that that between 18 and 30 million adults over 18 in the US have OSA and only 10% of those are diagnosed. OSA is a chronic, lifelong medical condition that can affect your sleep, health and quality of life and it has been linked to hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, work and driving related accidents and stroke.

There are several different ways to treat OSA, an oral appliance is one of the easiest and least invasive ways. The appliance advances the lower jaw opening the airway. An oral appliance is made at the recommendation of your physician and a sleep study must be completed. Once a prescription for an oral appliance is given by the treating physician, an appointment can be made with us. We will take measurements and impressions to fabricate the appliance. It is recommended that your dental work has all been completed so your appliance will last for years to come.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is composed of a ceramic resin that is brushed onto the tooth and hardened with intense light. Prior to bonding, an etchant is placed to roughen the surface, and a primer agent is then applied so the bond will adhere properly. Dental bonding is used for:

•  Repairing tooth decay damage
•  Improving tooth alignment
•  Filling gaps between teeth
•  Cosmetic reasons (improving tooth appearance, including altering shade)

Dental Bridges

Bridges are used to replace a missing tooth in both a cosmetic and functional fashion. A bridge structure is one or more artificial teeth anchored in place by natural teeth, crowns or implants on each side of the bridge. Using a bridge to fill the gap from missing teeth helps restore proper bite and prevent teeth from shifting to fill the gap (which may lead to additional bite and jaw joint issues). Bridges can be constructed from gold, porcelain and metal, or all ceramic. Ceramic bridge color is made to match your natural tooth color. Material choice will depend on structural requirements, wear, and aesthetics. Bridges are used to:

•  Replace missing teeth
•  Prevent teeth from shifting
•  Correct bite issues due to missing teeth
•  Help prevent jaw joint problems from altered bite
•  Improve appearance (cosmetic reasons)

Professional Cleanings, Exams, and X-rays

Professional cleanings performed by a licensed dentist or hygienist are just as important to your dental health as daily brushing and flossing. Using specialized tools and training, your hygienist at Henning Dental Studio will remove:
•  Plaque build-up from the surfaces of teeth. Bacteria in the mouth form plaque, which collects on teeth and causes decay, gum disease and gingivitis
•  Tartar from teeth surfaces. Tartar, or calculus, is plaque that has become hardened on the teeth; its removal requires scaling
•  Surface stains from teeth through polishing

Some patients will require a deep cleaning due to gum disease and past periodontal treatments. Dr. Henning will review your past dental history and identify any issues you may need treatment for.

Regular examinations, by Dr. Henning, help detect and prevent health issues before they become serious. Consistent dental check-ups help catch problems when they are small and easier to treat. Left unattended, small treatable problems become worse and may require more extensive, expensive procedures to repair. Dental examinations generally include the following:
•  Gum disease screening
•  Oral cancer screening
•  Visual tooth decay evaluation
•  Gum pocket measurement and tracking
•  X-ray examination to detect: tooth decay, cysts, tumors, problems below the gums and other hidden issues

Regular examinations by Dr. Henning are very important for your health. Remember, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." –Benjamin Franklin

X-rays (Radiographs)
Dental x-rays are a primary tool for early identification of dental problems. Your Spokane dentist can detect issues with x-rays before they become problems, saving you money in the long run by preventing the need for more expensive procedures or surgeries. X-rays are primarily used to detect internal tooth decay, cysts (fluid filled sacks at the base of your teeth), tumors, impacted teeth, and teeth that are still erupting.

Dental Dentures

When the condition of the teeth has deteriorated so far that they can no longer be repaired, removal is the only option. Dentures are a "replacement" option for missing teeth. There are two variations of dentures: partial dentures and full dentures. The difference between the two lies in how many natural teeth remain.

A complete denture is a removable prosthesis of white plastic teeth in a pink gum-colored plastic base; the denture rests on the remaining gum ridge once all of the teeth in the arch have been removed.

It is important to note that life with an upper and/or lower denture is a major lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures impact the type of food you are able to eat, your self-confidence in social situations and even your self-esteem.

Partial Dental Dentures

Often called a "partial," this type of denture is often used when only some of the teeth are missing.

A partial denture is a removable appliance held in place by gripping the remaining healthy teeth, usually with metal clasps or wires.

It is an economical solution that allows all missing teeth in the same arch (either the upper or the lower) to be replaced with one appliance. A partial denture is inherently much more stable and therefore more comfortable than a complete denture. There are many factors that help us to determine if you are a candidate for tooth replacement with a partial denture. Among these factors, the health of the gums and the shape of the anchor teeth are most important.

Extractions & Bone Grafts

We do our best to save each and every tooth but sometimes teeth just have to come out. While no one looks forward to having teeth taken out, we will make every effort to make sure the process is as comfortable as possible.

After the area is anesthetized, we check the area and make sure it is completely numb. You may feel some pressure but no pain. In many cases we will place a bone graft material in the socket immediately after the extraction. This helps maintain the width and heigth of the bone should you decide to have an implant placed at a later date. Even if an implant is not placed, the graft helps maintain a more natural contour of the bone and gums for other restorative options.

Dr. Henning will go over each of the options with you in detail and make sure you get the treatment you deserve.

fillings are used to restore tooth damage caused by tooth decay. Our office uses primarily composite (tooth-colored) fillings, which are virtually undetectable. Composite fillings, in addition to being more aesthetically pleasing, bond directly to the tooth surface. Silver fillings, or amalgams, are not bonded and are used only in the rare instances where composite wouldn't be ideal.

Porcelain Veneers

veneers are custom crafted porcelain laminates fitted over the front of an existing tooth. They bond directly to the front of the tooth, dramatically enhancing or restoring its shape, color and appearance. Veneers are:

•  Virtually undetectable
•  Very durable
•  An effective way to improve smile appearance
•  A quick and predictable way to achieve a smile makeover

Root Canals

Root canals are a great way to save a tooth when the nerve inside the tooth is no longer healthy. The nerve in a tooth can die or become very inflamed causing pain as a result of decay (cavities), trauma, severe clenching or grinding, a tooth fracture/crack, or a history of dental work being done.

A root canal is a tedious process and involves removing the nerve and blood supply in the tooth. The canal is then disinfected and filled with a material called Gutta Percha. This procedure is usally done in one appointment but can take two in certain instances. Since the tooth no longer has its blood supply, a crown is usually recommended for teeth in the back (pre-molars and molars) or for front teeth that have had previous dental work done to them.

While the root canal has perhaps the worst reputation of all dental procedures, we make every effort to make the process as comfortable as possible. If you are having any pain or swelling, give us a call and we will be ready to help.

Many people have narrow groves in their teeth that are very hard to clean or can't be cleaned with a toothbrush. In these cases the dentist will clean the tooth surface and use a sealant to seal and smooth the tooth surface to help prevent bacteria, plaque, and acid build up in the groves. If not treated, the groves will develop tooth decay, eventually leading to a cavity, and will need a filling or more serious corrective procedures.
